Hello, I am Keiya and this is my website. HDO stands for Hokage Dot Org, my small corner of the internet in which I express mostly gaming related musings. I do generally consider this site to be a gaming blog, and make a small effort to keep it on topic most of the time, even though it is technically about whatever I am interested in writing about at the moment. By gaming, I of course mean World of Warcraft and the handful of other games that I dabble in regularly. This blog is updated or not updated at my whim.
Feel free at any time to ask me questions, express concerns, offer content suggestions, etc. I try to respond to each email and/or comment in a timely fashion, but replying is just one of the things that I love putting off.

About Me
I have a professional and educational investment in technology, computers and their respective industries. I am also a self professed geek; meaning that there are specific hobbies in which I am very passionate about. So, other than a fairly obvious set of fixations involving sitting at a computer, I greatly enjoy the following activities: Art, martial arts, anime & manga, roleplaying games and games in general (both of the tabletop and electronic flavor), LEGO, playing the guitar (poorly...), baking, coffee, reading and running. I also really like soft things, shiny things, swords, birds and cake.
Books: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, The Dragonlance series by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman (Chronicles and Legends. Huge softspot for Dragonlance <3), Riftware Cycl by Raymond E Feist, almost any Neil Gaiman novel, The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. I am a sci-fi and fantasy connoisseur; More the later as of recently. I'm sure I am missing a few books on this list...
Movies: The Original Star Wars Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Serenity, Star Trek IV.
TV: Any Sci-Fi series with the word "Star" in the title (Star Trek, Star Gate, Battlestar Galactica), Deadliest Catch, Lost, Mythbusters, Glee, Merlin.
Music: I will listen to and appreciate almost anything, the variety of music in my iTunes library will attest to that fact. I prefer to listen to rock, hard rock, classic rock and alternative most of the time, though whatever I am really into at the moment tends to shift around quite a bit. I have a huge soft spot for show tunes and soundtracks. Oh, I have a thing for the Foo Fighters.
This Site
This site has been around since the dawn of time (late 2000) as a collection of personal blogs under various names and hosts chronicling every single uninteresting thing that I ever did in college. Hokage.org was registered in 2002 (after my original domain name sabotender.org had expired and failed to auto-renew). My blog went semi-perma dead at some point in 2005 or 2006 out of general disinterest and reduced personal time (job!). I archived and nuked the 7 year old database in 2007 with the intention of creating a more gaming focused site; And that is where we are now. I don't actually like the domain name hokage.org all that much and had considered replacing it (Naruto lol), but it has grown on me and I have owned it for almost 10 years. Here is a visual history of this site.
Hokage.org is hosted on a LEMP stack server hosted by Linode. All entries are published using Drupal, the content management system of my choice and edted using Notepad++ and/or Google Docs. I am using a heavily bastardized...err customized version of the Agua theme for Drupal 6. Also, if anyone cares, here is my Linode referral code.
World of Warcraft
I started playing World of Warcraft during the beta in early November of 2004, after a couple of college friends had introduced it to me. I used to be fairly hardcore back in the day, but because of real life commitments and what not, I am at the moment a fairly casual player; Though, I do still manage to attend the weekly raids and what not.
My main character and really, the only the character that I play is Keiya, a female human paladin. There is no significance to the name “Keiya,” even though I have grown quite attached to it and have since started using it as my primary internet handle (or rather other similar names since Keiya is always taken). It’s actually of mash-up of “Keiya” and “Kaya,” two names that I have used in pen and paper role-playing games in the past.
I leveled Keiya retribution and went holy once I started raiding for the sake of being useful. I healed my way though the original game and main tanked through the Burning Crusade. I swapped over to retribution main spec and protection off-spec shortly after we started raiding in Wrath of the Lich King. I had intended to switch back to either healing or tanking in Cataclysm, but I never really bothered. Once you go melee, you never go back >_>.
My only other high level character is Doombeard, a level 8x gimp hunter who comes out of the box to farm ore, use his alchemy cooldowns or to sponge loot whenever the occasion arises. I am also working on a Worgen druid who aspires to replace Doombeard as the primary ore and crap farmer on this account.
Other Games
I also play other games other than WoW on occasion :P
